Fabrice Courdant is an experienced educator and musician whose career spans over twenty years in Europe and Canada. Although he initially wanted to sing and play the guitar, his father steered him toward classical music. He began studying the clarinet at age ten at the Conservatoire de Musique in Le Havre, Normandy, France, and went on to earn four conservatory prizes as well as a State Diploma specializing in wind orchestra conducting from the Conservatoire National de Région in Toulouse—a qualification equivalent to a North American master’s degree. Alongside his instrumental career, he also developed extensive vocal experience, notably with the Toulouse-based jazz big band "Plaisant’jazz."
His professional journey has led him to hold principal clarinet and conducting positions with various French and Canadian orchestras, collaborate with renowned artists such as Michel Legrand, Francis Lai, Juan Jose Mosalini, and Christian Lindberg, and perform—as well as win prizes—in international orchestra competitions.
A versatile teacher since the age of 18, he instructs students of all ages in voice, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, piano, recorder, and music theory, while also conducting ensembles, wind bands, and choirs for which he creates his own arrangements. His teaching approach is grounded in listening, empathy, leading by example, technical tools that foster autonomy, and a repertoire tailored to personal development.
Recognized for his professionalism, punctuality, and dedication, he adapts his teaching to each student's specific needs and collaborates closely with colleagues to facilitate successful integration into ensembles. Furthermore, his experience extends to instructional design for organizations such as Desjardins, Jean Coutu, BMR, and the Ontario Ministry of Education, where he develops training content and multimedia learning tools.
